'An Original Gift ' is the family business of Paul, Heather, David, Andrew and Rebekah Krebs. Occasionally we outsource some work from friends and neighbours which means that our business consists of family and friends. Of course we are always glad for the chance to make more friends, so, please come in and make yourself at home.

As a family we have been involved in the business of woodwork for more than 20 years. Our commitment is to quality, natural, and wholesome products which give rather than take. And so it is fitting that most of our products are used as gifts.

Our Business History

In 1985, a most auspicious year, Paul and Heather Krebs were married and also began their first business together.

This was a joinery works which was called Blakely Krebs Classic Furnishings and was in the tropical northern city of Cairns. The match of their skills in the practical and administrative was a great indicator of more to come.

This entity was soon to become a major force in the top end of cabinet and joinery in Cairns. Major contracts included the Cairns Colonial Club, The Qantas Captains Club, The Casino and many others.

In time, looking to be more family friendly in their endeavour’s, the change was made to producing highest quality furniture for the discerning clientele of Port Douglas where Paul and Heather were then living with their young family. This was a most rewarding field with many innovative designs being produced.

However the desire for still more time with the growing family caused them to look further afield for work that would require less away from home time. This resulted in the move to the 410 acre property in the Gooodnight Scrub area (west from Bundaberg in Queensland) and the birth of the gift section of the business. The technical expertise, and extreme dedication to quality has guaranteed the public’s appreciation for their products.

The Goodnight Scrub is a farming area and it is taken for granted that property owners run cattle so here was much food for thought in what constitutes a good farm sign and yes, very soon the timber signs business came into being.

Of course in all this time the children have grown and, having had so much opportunity to see business in action, have now become a part of it all. Virtually every article that is produced by this business will have had the input of each member of the family.
